RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT LABS

This department has seven highly motivated mentors trained in fields as diverse as electronics, software, Biology, metallurgy etc. The R&D labs help interested students to conduct research and present their projects at various national as well as international fares. The department has helped students bring in accolades both at the nation as well as international levels.

Activities during school in R&D

Initiative for Research and Innovation in STEM

IRIS promotes and nurtures Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) research amongst young Indian innovators. It recognizes and rewards outstanding projects and provides a platform for young innovators to get recognized at national and international STEM events. Our school enjoys the privilege of getting selected for participating the National Fairs for the 19th consecutive year.

Raman Young Science Innovator award

The idea of the Raman Young Science Innovator award is to encourage children to create hands-on, experiential science activities that demonstrate a principle in any topic of their choice. The award was created to spark an interest in science from a young age and promote it as a fun subject that can be explored anywhere. This award promotes the path of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and encourages children to take it up as a career in the future. This year it is conducted for students from Grades 3 to 10. 25 projects were submitted from our school.

Technovation Challenge

We participated in Technovation Challenge, an International Event exclusively for girls in the age group of 10-18 years.

The Indian Science & Engineering Fair

The Indian Science & Engineering Fair was launched by the Science Society of India to inculcate project-based learning at a more fundamental level. This time INSEF-Regional will be held in November, and INSEF-National will be held in January.

Breakthrough Challenge

Breakthrough Challenge is an international event organized jointly by Khan Academy and the Breakthrough Junior Challenge team.

Under the aegis of the R&D dept the following programmes will be conducted after school hours:

ELECTRICAL SAFETY and BASIC ELECTRONICS - Basics (Grades 7 and 8)

Aim of this course is to give exposure to important proactive measures to ensure electrical safety at home. This knowledge is very essential as many people overlook/neglect safety guidelines and face electric hazards endangering safety.

PYTHON PROGRAMMING - Basics (Grades 7, 8 & 9–Level-1)

This programme aims at enhancing problem-solving skills, computational thinking, logical and critical thinking. Students will have an exposure to experiential learning with python coding. The coding will be integrated with micro controllers to build projects.

PYTHON CODING (Grades 8 & 9-Level-2)

Aim of this programme is to take the students who are interested to the next level and adapt to the project-based approach and inculcate problem solving skills using micro-controllers, sensors and python coding.

3-D DESIGN & PRINTING (Additive Manufacturing Process - Basics) (Grades-7, 8 & 9)

It is proposed to introduce the concept of 3D- design and printing to integrate art and science.

3-D DESIGN & PRINTING (Additive Manufacturing Process - Advanced) for Grades 8, 9 & 10)

This will give more exposure to design and give hands-on experience in printing. This course will be only for the students who have gone through a Level-1 programme.
